LASDRI TRAINS 160 DRIVERS
In preparation for the take-off of the Lagos City Bus Project initiative, the Lagos State Drivers’ Institute (LASDRI), in collaboration with Amalgamated Mega-City Transport Services Limited (ATS) has embarked on the training of 160 Drivers at The Transport House, Abule-Egba, Lagos.
Speaking at the week-long training/workshop, the Director of Training Department, LASDRI, Mrs. Bolanle Tiamiyu stated that training and re-training of drivers have a great impact on safety and reduction of road accidents in the State.
She also noted that in an effort to implement the mandate of the Institute, plans are being put together to extend the training to all professional drivers in various motor parks and garages across the State.
On his part, the Director of the Amalgamated Mega-City Transport Services Limited, Engineer Olusegun Spencer, disclosed that the training programme is meant to prepare the drivers, both male and female for the challenges of driving a city bus in a place like Lagos, which will soon emerge into a smart city.
Spencer expressed optimism that the drivers will have an attitudinal change in their driving culture after the training, saying that eye tests were also conducted to ascertain the conditions of the sight of participants.
Some of the areas of focus at the workshop include Defensive Driving and Road Range, Right of Way as well as handling emergency situations while driving (A case study of brake failure while driving).
