LASDRI Boss advises motorists on safety
The Acting General Manager of the Lagos State Drivers' Institute, Mrs. Afusat Tiamiyu, has advised all drivers and motorists to make safety their priority during and beyond the festive period.
She gave the advice during her interview on 107.5 FM radio programme, "Awaye", adding that all road users must ensure safety consciousness at all times while on the road, especially during the festive period when there is a tendency for an increase in vehicular movements.
The LASDRI Boss disclosed that the Institute has been engaging in on-site training in different motor parks and garages across the State as part of efforts aimed at eradicating road accidents during and beyond the yuletide season as well as ensuring that all drivers have access to regular training by the Agency.
"For the past four weeks, we have been going to different motor parks for on-site training, we started at Ojota Tipper Garage later moved on to Ojota bus-stop, lyana-lpaja roundabout and we are now at Oshodi motor garage because we want to reduce road accidents to the barest minimum during the yuletide season", Tiamiyu said.
While noting that residents should not be on the roads if there is no urgent reason to travel during the festive period, Tiamiyu pleaded with commercial drivers to avoid overloading while travelling as this may cause avoidable accidents.
The Acting General Manager reiterated that LASDRI is mandated to train, retrain and recertify professional drivers to reduce road carnage and ensure safety on the roads.
