The Acting General Manager of the Lagos State Drivers' Institute, Mrs. Afusat Tiamiyu has restated the commitment of the state government to zero tolerance for accidents on Lagos roads, hence the need for all professional drivers to improve on their driving skills by registering for training and retraining on a yearly basis.

Mrs. Tiamiyu stated this while speaking on Bond FM 92.9 radio programme, "Awaye", adding that the Lagos State Government has provided all the equipment and personnel required to ensure that training at the institute is effective and efficient for all professional drivers.

Tiamiyu noted that the present administration has also charged the institute personnel to intensify their efforts, conduct research and teach trending topics on transportation, road usage and traffic management.

She, however, advised professional drivers to stop placing too much importance on the recertification cards issued at the Institute but that they should show more interest in the lectures being received as knowledge and learning process is for a lifetime.

Tiamiyu also assured Lagosians that the Institute is working tirelessly on getting approvals from the government on opening more training centres, as people have been requesting that LASDRI should make it easier for all professional drivers to satisfy their quest for knowledge.

Recall that the Lagos State Drivers’ Institute was established by the State Government in 2007 to correct mistakes of the past whereby drivers drive on the highway without adequate training. The Institute has over the years facilitated the training and re-training of motor vehicle drivers to ensure safety on Lagos roads.
